Memotoo -> Thunderbird sync compatibility

I like Memotoo, and I may be missing something here, but from where I'm sitting, the ability of Memotoo to synchronize contacts/address book with Thunderbird is in a state of complete shambles.

Memotoo recommends use of Funambol or SoGo, but:
- Funambol crashes on Thunderbird 3.1
- Neither Funambol or SoGo work on Thunderbird 5

Why do Memotoo rely on very flaky and completely out of date third party connectors to sync with Thunderbird (probably the 2nd most popular email client on the planet)?

Why don't Memotoo provide their own connector and maintain a high level of compatibility with the extremely popular Thunderbird?

Open Source is great, but I'm fast converting back to Microsoft as at least they don't leave their clients in the lurch during upgrades.

Memotoo, a company dedicated to synchronisation, appear to have a worrying dependence on very flaky and out of date third party add-ons.

Can anything be done about this?
