"My Contacts" Label not syncing when partial (selected groups) sync in Gmail/GContact

Hi. I recently set up one of my GMail accounts to only sync (2-way) a subset of contact group categories. My setup was from a completely blank contact list in this new gmail account.

The gmail contact group filter feature works great. ONLY those groups I selected were copied / synced to the new GMail account. However, when the contacts came over, ONLY the selected labels came across. In their primary accounts, each of these contacts is part of "My Contacts" However, these contacts did not maintain their "My Contacts" label as well. However, as I have made some edits to these contacts in other synced gmail accounts, I have noticed that edited contacts are now showing up with the "My Contacts" label.

Please let me know if I can explain further or help with figuring this out.
