Memotoo has some great synching tools, but apart from that it lacks some things (such as the interface), and not importing the bookmark tags is one of them. Again, if this can be fixed, at least for the paid users like me, then we could all bring our bookmarks to Memotoo. ML

I'd already signed up (free) for Diigo which is a competitor to Delicious and which imports all your Delicious bookmarks. It also keeps Delicious up to date (neat product, UI needs work). The export from Diigo still doesn't import into Firefox with tags, but does put the tag into the "keyword" field. I used Firefox 4's bookmarks admin to add the keyword column to the standard view, then sorted on keywords. Once that was done it took me less than 30 minutes to select each block of keyworded bookmarks and add a tag to match the keyword. Of course YMMV, but it has worked for me. I used the Syncplaces Firefox addon to send the bookmarks to Memotoo and all 3200-odd came accross with tags. I can't get the Syncplaces addon to receive from Memotoo, Firefox hangs indefinitely if I try. Still, I now have my bookmarks in Memotoo, one battle at a time...

I also used the Syncplaces add-on to receive Memotoo bookmarks onto my Linux test system (normally I use Win 7). All bookmarks were received, but unfortunately the tags did not come with them. So my conclusion is that tags do transfer when bookmarks are sent from Syncplaces to Memotoo, but not when bookmarks are received from Memotoo. I would guess this is something to do with Memotoo using the XBEL protocol, whereas Firefox prefers the json protocol and can do more with it - I've no idea whether it would be feasible for Memotoo to offer the json protocol as an alternative. Still, I am now aware of the limitation and can probably live with it.
