Memotoo - Contact Merge: Replace drop down?

Ok, so it's possible to merge contacts now, awesome! I've only used it for a few hours but Memotoo has quickly become one of my fav web tools already.

But I have some questions. What exactly is the functionality of the replace drop-down when you merge contacts? If I merge contacts with the exact same name, there will be no way to distinguish them from each other so what account overrides what and does my mobile phone get updated with the merged info when it syncs?

As a side note:
Wouldn't it be better to have some sort of page that displays all information from the doublets on one page with radio buttons on the side of the duplicate entries?
